The SEC Investor Advisory Committee's Thursday agenda includes recent volatility in pricing for exchange traded funds, the investment vehicles in the news on Aug. 24, when disruptive price swings throughout equity markets led to trading halts for more than 500 ETFs. Regulators and stock exchanges want to limit the potential for disruptions in the $2 trillion market for ETFs, which typically track broad investment portfolios while being bought and sold like individual stocks. The SEC is working on rules to rein in disruptive trading as part of broader changes in oversight of market structure. An agency report is scheduled to come out in the next few weeks.
