Wednesday, Dec 23 'The Big Short,' the Paramount Pictures film based on Michael Lewis's book about the 2008 financial crisis and nominated for four Golden Globe Awards, goes into wide release in North American theaters. Thursday, Dec 24 U.S. stock markets close at 1 pm EST and the bond market shuts at 2 pm. Many European markets are closed for at least half the day. Friday, Dec 25 U.S., Canadian and European markets are closed for the Christmas Day holiday.
